"I have been meaning to take a trip across London to visit Abacus in Sidcup for a while - it always seems to do well in the PFK polls and I can really see why. Tropical stock is pretty amazing. There were no sick looking fish, they all looked great and the fish themselves were, in some cases, quite unusual - some that I have never seen before! It was with genuine excitement that I looked at each tank to see what was inside....... it was well worth the 3 hour round trip"

"We visited this shop ....... having seen it was the winner of Best Fish Shop in the South East. It was well worth the trip up from Folkestone, even though I have a very good LFS. There were many fish I had not seen in the flesh before, including some gorgeous plecos, all in lovely condition and spotless tanks. The chap running the shop was probably exhausted by the time we left as I asked so many questions, but he was very good, including advising if he didn't think particular fish were suitable for my setup (always a good recommendation I think!). I can see why this shop won this award and would definitely recommend a visit."

Livestock quality: "Very good. I always inspect all the tanks in a shop when buying new fish and have never seen any signs of illness in the tanks. In fact, on several occasions I have seen large broods of cichlid fry in the stock tanks as fish have bred while in the shop. Many of the fish I have seen for sale here I have never seen anywhere else locally and all seem to be in good condition."

Staff knowledge: "The owner is a real enthusiast and puts the welfare of the fish first. This is the only shop where I have been asked how big the tank is, how long the filters have been running, tank mates etc. before he was willing to sell me the fish, which I was more than happy with."
